Favorites - Access denied when saving

Phil James

Both on IE7 & 8 I'm having the same problem when trying to save a new
Favorite, I get a message back saying "Access Denied". However, It saves ok
using Firefox and Chrome. The permission is fine giving me (administrator)
read & write access.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Phil

Your favorites for IE should be located at:
computer>>Local Disk (C:) >>Users>> account name >>Favorites

properties/Security tab should show System, <account name>, and
Administrators each of which has full control
under the advanced tab 'you' should be the owner

It is possible that some third party program has 'protected' the favorites
from change

I don't have either Firefox or Chrome so cannot say if the favorites for
them are located in the same place.

Did you move the favorites folder to another location?
Try this:
Open a Command Prompt as an administrator.
Browse to the folder that contains your Favorites folder. That means
whichever folder your Favorites folder is in.
Copy this statement, right click the Command Prompt window at the prompt,
and select paste:
icacls favorites /setintegritylevel (OI)(CI)low
