Bob,
Check the post from djh which seems good. It suggests that you delete the Links folder, and then type "shell:Links" in the Start, Search box to re-create the shell folder.

Thanks for that. The Links folder was missing im my userprofile. I created a
new Links folder, I still cannot drag and drop to the favorites area but if
I drag a shortcut to the Links folder it creates a shorcut in the Favorites
? Still not working exactly as it did before
Favorite Links in the Windows Explorer navigation pane is completely empty:

Suddenly my Favorite Links folder is showing (empty) and I cannot drag
anythink to it. When I try to drag I get a red "no entry" icon
