Favorite Links pane not functioning

I am trying to get some favorite links to show in the pane, but instead of
showing anything, I just get (empty). See the screenshot. I have tried
right-click and neither of the two options work; I have tried
allowing/disallowing favorites from teh start menu. What can I do to get my
links visible there?

When you type "shell:links" (no quotation marks) in the Start Search box of
the Start Menu, and press Enter on your keyboard, what is the path of the
folder? Are there shortcuts in it? If you go up a directory, does the
Links folder have the special blue-green icon, or is it a generic manila
one?

Also, did you intall a "tweak" to remove the arrow on shortcuts?

Click Start, type "%userprofile%\links" and press ENTER. See if the default shortcuts are present in that folder. If the "Links" folder is empty, you can create those missing shortcuts by right-clicking on a blank area in the "Favorite Links" area in explorer, and selecting the option "Restore Default Favorite Links".

OTOH if the default links are present but not displayed in the Favorite Links section, this may be a result of removing the "IsShortcut" registry value for shortcuts (.lnk file type.) See:

Favorite Links in the Windows Explorer navigation pane is completely empty:

Thanks to both of you. Yes, I had done one or two things to get rid of that
shortcut icon. I think the last thing was to install a small utility, so I
went ahead and redid the shortcut. If there's a problem, I'll use the MS
instructions to take it out.

As far as the links paths, I typed in both and the favorites links were
there. I've already made the registry change and if they don't appear in the
Explorer pane after my next reboot, I'll post here again.

Thanks again.
