I have a strange one. I am running XP Pro and Office 2003. When I load
Outlook 2003 I get the message in the heading - FATAL ERROR: Can not clean
temporary directory. Clicking OK, Outlook starts and runs as normal BUT any
screen changes I have made are not remembered. AND, the reason I am posting
to the Windows XP group, is that none of my Windows screen changes are
remembered either. The Quick Launch bar for instance reverts to previous
configurations. It is not fatal but it is annoying. I have restored the
Office Suite, run cleanPST, asked questions in the Office forum - all to no
avail, so I am thinking that it must be a Windows problem. Any ideas anyone?

Take a look at the environmental settings. You may have a path conflict for
the Temp folder

Start>Control Panel >SystemProperties > Advanced \/ Startup and Recovery >
Environmental Variables
Check that the path for Temp is C:\Windows\Temp and also for TMP
C:\Windows\Temp is in both
User Variables for UserName
&
System Variables

Edit if necessary and then use Explorer to check that the folder is indeed
present in C:\Windows\Temp and that it is not corrupt by opening it.
