Fatal Error 256 Reading boot.ini

Okay, I'm also in it deep. I've installed and ran this on
three of my home machines. But on my son's machine (which
had a boatload of hits) after the program requested a
reboot the PC won't come back up. Instead I get the
following error:

NTLDR: Fatal Error 256 reading boot.ini.

Can figure out how to get past this and the error doesn't
seem very good. From my point of view the machine is now
dead!

I'm desperate here folks... Any ideas of what I'm
supposed to do to recover?

And does this thing generate some sort of Log that I can
share with Microsoft so they can figure out how the error
occurred?

Boot from the CD and use the repair console. Use the help file. if you don't
know how to repair it from the repair console, to a full system repair.

Okay... I'm still unsure what to do here. I've tried
running FIXMBR to no avail. What exactly does this
message mean? I've googled all over trying find the root
meaning without success.
