FAT32/NTFS Issues

We made a movie on WMM2 and need to transfer it back on to
the DV camera for conversion to VHS. In the Save As
wizard, we get a message saying the file is too big for
FAT32, convert to NTFS. Movie was created on FAT32 drive.
We tried moving and then copying the movie to external and
2nd internal drives which are NTFS, we keep getting the
same message when using the Save As wizard to save to DV
camera. HELP! We have a deadline! Not enough time to
convert or partition the FAT32 hard drive. Any direction
would be appreciated! BTW - the movie is 45 min long and is
far less than 4GB.

Dianne,

Your WMV movie may be far less than 4GB, but DV-AVI
file that MM2 must create on your hard drive will
be larger than 4GB.

In Movie Maker, select Tools -> Options -> General.
Change the location where MM2 stores temporary files
to a folder on your NTFS hard drive. That should
do the trick.

If that doesn't work (or just for future reference):

It's easy to convert a drive from FAT32 to NTFS.
Just open a Command Prompt window, and type:

CONVERT X: /fs:ntfs

Where X: is the letter of the drive you want to
convert.

Check your temp storage location and ensure that it is not on the Fat32
partition and is in fact on the NTFS drive. See if that helps.

Thank you, we'll give it a try and be back to you if it
doesn't work! We're also trying to burn a DVD and record it
on VHS, but I fear quality may suffer. Thanks again!

Justin (and Bob) - I've done as you suggested, and the tape is rolling! 16% done! Thank you again!
