Fastest way for remote access

Ben

I have a small network with a couple users connecting to a win xp box that
acts as a server to store documents and run an application. I have a firebox
vpn router currently installed and map drives to the XP box for the files and
app.

I am inquiring to see if there is a better options for remotely accessing
the files and app over the internet. The users complain that the speed is
too slow and I wasn't sure if there was a better way.

Thanks in advance.

Get a faster Internet connection (upstream and down) for the setup - at
least that is all you can do on your end. That is likely your bottleneck
now.

I mean - you could seup a Sharepoint server (services or MOSS) and train
users to use that for file storage/sharing/etc and possibly get rid of the
VPN requirement by using SSL - but in any case - you will have some security
overhead (if you are wise) and since you don't have a real server now - I
don't expect that suggestion is a viable one anyway. ;-)
