is this something we should do or stay away from?

start > run > type regedit > navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SYSTEM >
Current control set > Control > Session Manager > Memory Management >
Prefetch Parameters. change the value in EnablePrefetcher from 3 to 5.
reboot and watch the faster speed.

And what does it actually do? (I mean, what is the effect of changing the
"3" to a "5"?)

As far as I've read/researched it, there are only four states for
EnablePrefetcher
0 Disabled
1 Applications
2 Drivers/Boot Code
3 Drivers and Applications

Do an experiment & time b4 & after & have some way of
recovering like BU Registry.

Then let us know.

Any advice given is my attempt to show appreciation for all
the excellent help I've received here but I'm no MVP so it
may only apply NUGS. Personal attacks, nitpicking & criticism
of anything but content will NOT be responded to. Those
posters should spend their time taking the test @

well, maybe if we put in a 10 instead of a 5... it would turbo charge it?

Made mine boot a lot slower and did not load all of the startup items.
