Fast Draft Default Word 2007

Would like documents to print either in Fast Normal or Fast Draft Mode by
default .... whichever I choose.

Thought I had found the answer via Word Options... Advanced.... and then
clicking the check box for draft quality in the Printing section of that
page. Unfortunately while the checkbox remains filled in, when I click on
File/Print and then on Properties, I still see "Normal" as the choice.

Of note, would like to be able to specify black cartridge only but beggars
can't be choosers.

Thank you,
Sarah

I would imagine that these defaults would have to be set in the printer
driver by way of the printer Properties.

You would think so, however while you can apply the settings they only stay
true until you close Word. Any other ideas?

Thanks you.

Are you setting them directly in the Printers folder, before opening Word?

That was the answer. Thanks so much! Of note, while each time you open Word
it will print your documents as set ..... should you change any document
print settings, word will use for all documents you open thereafter during
that session. Certainly not a big deal but I mention both for those who read
this thread in the future and also should you have any additional suggestions.

Otherwise, thanks again Suzanne.

Yes, this has always been true in all versions of Word. When you start Word,
it uses the default printer selected in the Printers folder, with the
default settings. If you change the printer or settings (Properties) during
a Word session, the changes are retained till you exit Word but will revert
to the default Printers folder settings when you restart.
