Fan does not work after ugrading to XP

I have a IBM T23 laptop. Orginally had 2000 o/s. I installed XP Pro and
have had a few difficulties. Mainly now the cooling fan never turns on and
the laptop gets extremely hot. I know this is not good so I will shut it
down until it cools, but I know the fan is fan. I can't seem to locate any
settings in the control panel or BIOS settings.

Any ideas?

XP has nothing to do with the fan operation. If in doubt about it,replace it.
While installing xp the hardware probably caused it to warm-up more than
usual, causeing an ill fan to quit.

FYI

After further research and seeing many people that have upgraded their
notebooks to a different o/s, there seems to be a common thread.

On a whim, I went to IBM's site and found that the ThinkPad drivers were
needed for some of my other issues (would have thought XP drivers would have
covered it but they don't). I installed several different drivers for
functionality that was lost in the upgrade, after a re-boot, my fan started
to work.

Thanks!

That makes sense. IBM has all kinds of propietary junk in their laptops. Ask
all the users in my office about the rundll32.exe problem that uses 99% of
the CPU.
