Fan / Dell Inspiron 5000 & XP

Robin

I just formatted and installed Windows XP Pro on my Dell
Inspiron 5000 laptop and Windows seems to be turning off
the fan which causes the system to overheat almost
immediately.

I checked the Dell Diags and the fan is working
properly. Is there some way of forcing the fan to come
on when in Windows? (I know that there was the same
problem with Windows 2000, but that fix does not work
with Windows XP.)

Thanks

I also have a DELL 5000 and XP Pro. The fan is controlled by the motherboard
and not Windows. Dell don't seem to do a utility for this model to control
it.
