Family Discount Ordering Trouble

Same problem here.

Does everyone having this problem have the Windows Vista Ultimate
*Signature* Edition? That's what I have, and I think another user above
posted that that was what he had as well.

Just looking for a common thread...

What do you think?

Fat lot of good it does us.

The key does not work, when you enter it in when prompted, the key cannot be
validated.

Called Microsoft. They're aware of the problem, have no idea how to fix it,
no timeframe of when it will be fixed, but took down my info and told me
they'd call and email.

Now we're making progress!

Well, i was able to order mine as well, but haven't tried to install. Glad
I just dropped $100 on two keys that may or may not work...

Possible Resolution. Let me know if this does not match what everyone else
is seeing. I got this information from the Manager in charge of project.

From what I was told; sounds like the HIP (Human Interface Picture) was type
in 3 times incorrectly. But the user should have got an error along these
lines:

ERROR:

The maximum number of retry attempts has been reached; please CLICK HERE to
restart the order process.

Error Code: 1052

Something seems to be missing; let me know if you received a different
error.

Thanks

Doug

PS: Looks like John and Kyle's Prod ID should work for them now. If anyone
else gets locked out; please send me the Prod ID in email..

I have the same problem, I decided to bring the cds to work with me, and I
fed the xp sp2 machien the disc, steped through to the enter cd key screen
and it returned invalid key. Another step closer...

Doug,

It is now working. I have 2 new keys. What you were told was correct if you
enter 3 times. But I can assure you up to this point 4:30PM 1/31 if you put
in the correct key code you had "Error - No Offer". The three times came up
once for me desipte putting the correct keys in. I have the feeling they
might have been pulling the wool over someone. I can undertand if they had
said, "Look we have a problem due to loading, or the key catalogue was not
loaded or done incorrectly". I can get that but to say nothing excpet via
your good self is not impressive. Comments ?

I got my family discount key this morning. When I first installed Premium it
said bad key. MS told me over the phone to install then activate. Now it says
my key is already in use.

anyone have any suggestions?

Mark

PS: One of the guys from MS was telling me I should not use the Ultimate
Disks to install Home premium. He told me it is Best Buys problem since that
is where I bought the Ultimate from. He even said you can't use a Ultimate
dixk to install Home Premium. I told him he did not know what he was talking
about and give me someone who does. No help, they just keep passing me to
other people. I have been on the phone for over 2 hours and no resolution.

Doug - Thanks for getting the website fixed. Now, I'm on to a new problem.

I've got my two home pro keys from the family discount but neither work.

When I try to install here's the error I get:
Your product key cannot be validated. Review your product key and make sure
that you have entered it correctly.

I've tried both keys that I just purchased and I get the same error.

I'll e-mail my keys to you in case you need them to help figure it out.

Thanks again for your help.

I have the exact same problem as Kyle. I purchased ther "Retail Boxed"
upgrade version of Vista Ultimate from Best Buy. I purchased 2 home premium
upgrades under the family discount program and have 2 product keys in hand.
Neither will work and error says key already in use. What gives?

Same boat here, got the pk's and went and upgraded my laptop with my Ultimate
disk, completed the install, went to activate and got the following

"The produckt key you have entered does not appear to be a valid Windows
Vista product key.

Please check your product key and type it again."

over and over and over again.

Could it be that the family offer keys have not been added to the activation
database?

well, I've got 3 days left for MS to figure this one out......

My key is not working either, I tried to upgrade (I purchased Vista Ult
Upgrd) from XP Pro SP2, and it said it wasn't a valid product to upgrade
from. No biggie, I just formatted and reloaded. Went to enter the key, and
it said it wasn't a valid key for Home Premium. So I instsalled completely
w/o key - and put key in.. again, bad key. I will forward you the new key as
well.
Thanks

John

(Sorry if double post, web site did not appear to accept first one).

Same boat here. Doug - Have sent you email with product IDs of Premium
Upgrade Keys. They will not validate within setup program or upon trying to
change keys after installation without keys. Tech support agrees that they
are not valid keys.

Add me to the list, 2 sets of Keys declared invalid. It is now 3 days after
launch and nothing formal from MS regonising the problem or when it is going
to be resolved.

Doug Hite, I am sure you are swaped with this issue but can you please post
an update?

Hi Eveyrone. I finally got an answer. From what I have been told:

The Vista Family Discount (VFD) team has found the problem with the product
keys. Turns out they are not Vista Keys. The VFD team is working on a fix
and will email out new keys to everyone with in 4-5 days.

If your key does not work; odds are its one of the bad ones. If you do not
hear back from the VFD team with a new key next week; I would send them an
email or call:

email: (e-mail address removed)
Phone: 1-800-835-0663

I hope this helps!
Thanks and sorry for any issues...
-Doug
