False Positive - once again

Okay...had this problem before. Uninstalled MSAS because
it was annoying me. Tried installing it again recently
(I hoped an update may have fixed the problem). I am
occassionally getting "YourSiteBar is trying to
install"...when it isn't. It isn't there. Not at all.
I have run HijackThis, I have checked the BHOs (with
BHODemon). It isn't there. I tell MSAS to allow it, and
THERE IS NOTHING THERE. (and yes, before someone
suggests, I have run three other spyware scanners, as
well as booting in safe mode, etc. etc.)

For a beta product, there are very few tools the end user
has to track and help resolve this bug. I would think
that as a beta, there should be some log that says WHAT
FILE is causing this warning to trigger...what EVENT.
But NOOOO. Of course not. Heaven forbid MS should
provide beta testers with the ability to actually, you
know, test.

I can see your problem. I can imagine ways to troubleshoot this but they'd
be time consuming--find good lists of what files constitute 'YourSiteBar'
and look for files with those characteristincs on your system. Try triaging
with MSCONFIG--although with something that is an occasional issue, that
seems unlikely to yield useful results.

If this is driving you nuts, I think I'd uninstall and wait for beta2.

Thanks for the feedback...sorry if I sounded frustrated.
I will try both things you suggested. Either way, I will
let the forum know what I find out.

Thanks

Make certain that this detection isn't coming from a
limited user account.

If you have removed it using the administrator account
and are now trying to log into a limited user account,
then this could be the cause of the problem. If this is
the case, then ignore the warning when you log into the
limited user account, as it's an issue with the lack of
support of limited user accounts. Also, make certain not
to remove anything while logged into a limted user
account, as doing so will NOT remove the infection.

The current release only supports the administrator
account that installed the app.
