Can anyone help with our problem?
We have downloaded the Service Pack 4 and installed it to
update Windows 2000 Professional on our laptop. On
rebooting after closing down it comes up with the message:
<windows2000root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe. file is missing
or corrupt. We have got a copy of this file from another
computer but can't get any further into booting up the
laptop to install it!!

I'd be grtateful of any advice Thanks!

You should be able to boot up from the CD and use the recovery console.
You'll also probably find a working
copy of your ntoskrnl.exe in one of the service pack folders.

Remember you can copy things ONTO a drive with recovery console, but not
from the drive.

Good luck,

-Sam
