Failure of web page to open maximised

I have just installed Wanadoo broadband and now have
problems when I try to surf the net. If I click on a link
or try to open a page, the page will only come up as a
small bar in the middle of the screen. On the bar are the
Maximise, Minimise and Close window button, I have to
click Maximise to open the window. By doing this I am
unable to use the Back or Foreward button at the top of
the screen. If I wish to go back a page I have to close
the window. I have spoken to Wanadoo and they insist I am
the only person in the UK to have this problem and it must
be some thing I have changed during set up of Wanadoo. I
have told them this is not the case and it must be a
problem with their software but the say it is Microsoft.
Can any one help me please.

Try this simple fix.

Open such a link. (new window)
Don't use the maximize button.
Stretch the edges/corners so that the window fills the screen.
Close all other IE windows.
Close the stretched window last.
