"Failure Audit" Message in Event Viewer

G

Guest

I have a wireless router (D-Link DI-624) which is fine. I'm running XP Home
on 5 networked computers. All are OK except one. I started to receive the
message shown below on 2/3/07. It appears in the Event Viewer logs under
Security

This is a wireless client. DELL 4600. When I receive the message I cannot
access the Internet. My internal wireless network is fine and all of the
clients can be pinged but I cannot ping a web site (i.e. ping www.yahoo.com)
from the problem computer.

If I reboot the w/s the problem is resolved and I have full connectivity.
However, if I logoff and then log back, the error message appears in the log
and I cannot access the Internet.

Please advise since the error message is not very helpful regarding the
resolution.

Thanks!!!
Tony V.

desired by the applied IPSec filters. Please run IPSec monitor snap-in to

Interesting. I tend to doubt that the problem is ipsec related but you never
know and you seem to show some sort of correlation. Just to try and rule it
out I would use services.msc to disable the ipsec service and then stop it
to see what happens. Also try pinging 4.2.2.2 to help establish internet
connectivity. If that works but you can not access a website then for some
reason you have a DNS problem. If problems continue it may be worth your
time trying to do a System Restore to a point in time before the problem
began.

Thanks for your help. I disabled the service as you advised and everything is
fine.
