Failing to synchronise Address book

When I try to synchronise the Address book through Send and Receive, I get an
error message "Task 'Microsoft Exchange' reported error (0x80190197): 'The
Operation failed'". This is preventing me from seeing all addresses. How do
I find the issue and rectify?
