Failing to configure My SQL server?

What does this mean? Do I have a faulty version of XP or something? I
get this error when trying to install a piece of software...

MySQL is a database product. Probably the "piece of software" needs it in
order to function properly. Is nothing wrong with your Win XP.

I am trying to run Video Vegas, I never had a problem before but now it
tells me that it cannot run the MEDIA MANAGER because it cannot connect
to the Desktop My SQL server or something. Great, just great...
