Failed XP SP2 install killed my FTP!

I have been attempting to install SP2 on my XP Pro for awhile. That is a
whole different thread thread though...

I have noticed now that my FTP is screwed up. I was perfectly able to
upload/download to my web server (with a user account) before the failed
install. Now, I CAN get FTPExplorer to CONNECT to my site without
trouble/error but I can't see any of the folders on the remote site.

I downloaded CoffeeCup FTP to see if it was FTPExplorer's problem but same
deal. It can connect but I can't see the folders on the host machine.

Please don't send me to Windows Firewall help pages - I don't have the new
Windows Firewall because stupid SP2 won't install :-( Grrrrr

At this point, I could give a flying fig if SP2 works or not - I just want
my FTP back!

Any advice would be appreciated.

Perhaps the troubleshooting information in this article may help:

You may not be able to open a project when you try to connect to a remote Windows XP
Service Pack 2-based computer by using the AutoCAD FTP service
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;873185&Product=windowsxpsp2

Here's how to correct the problem after opening Port 21 via the
SP2 firewall Exceptions tab:

1. Open Internet Explorer >Tools > Internet Options > Advanced tab

2. Uncheck the box: "Use passive FTP (for firewall & DSL modem capability)

Sort of similar problem.
New hard drive, XP Professional, IE6, SP3, firewall.
But no longer able to upload pics to Walmart or Walgreens.
Cookies enabled, allowed ActiveXControl (programs were installed in
Downloaded Files). Firewall on/off, and all other tips I could find.
No results.
Anybody with advise ?
I bought the drive and XP Professional to make my PC run smoother.
Now I am looking at a dead IE screen when the upload locks up,
and XP then shuts IE down. Great.....
