Failed to open registry key

Hi All,

During installation of some of programs the following info appears:

SetCFRedir
Failed to open registry key:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{436F4AD7-C95B-4d2f-B0F8-8DC643FA200}

and installation unsuccessfully ends.

It happens during installation under WinXP Pro Version 2002 SP2
but I haven't found a newsgroup for winxp registry.
The same programs can be installed under WinNT 4.0 SP6 successfully.

Could anyone advise what to do to be able to install such programs under WinXP?

Regards,
Ewa

You'll probably need to get in touch with the application developer.

I don't think that the problem is in installing the applications under
WinXP as they can be installed on other computers with WinXP
and what's more, as fas as I remember, in the past they were installed
and worked under WinXP on the same computer we have problems now.

Hi again,

I'd like to inform you that after today's confirmation that the applications
can be installed and used under WinXP on other computers, I ran
Registry Mechanic and Windows-KB890830-V1.7-PLK on the "bad"
computer but unfortunately it didn't help. :-(

Do you know about any other programs for WinXP registry that could
help?

Regards,
Ewa

Registry cleaners always do more damage than good. I get no hits on
SetCFRedir or the CLSID. Possibly virus or malware related.
