failed to get data for 'ad' error

On my computer (running XP home version) i get the failed
to get data for 'ad' error and IE closes and asks if it
can send an error report. The report says that there ia a
problem with file C:\docume~1\owner\locals~1
\temp\wer15.tmp.dir00\appcompat.txt
I downloaded spybot and ran it, and it removed a bunch of
spyware/addware.
What do I need to do now to get my computer back up and
running?
