failed to detect directsound

I recently installed a game that requires directsound. When the same
starts, it says it cannot detect directsound. I am running Windows XP home
along with WMP 9 series. I have a Soundblaster Live 5.1 sound card. I have
not had any other problems with sound up until now. Is there an easy fix
for this problem?

Is the game a older dos based game ? It may be the game setup and not your
operating system . Have you tried compatibility mode ? Jym

It's a current game. Mahjongg Master III. After I try to run it, Norton
System works says I have an active x registry error, which it proceeds to
repair.
