Fade pattern

Hi. Does anyone know how to fade the pattern in a group of cells from left
to right? I have multiple adjacent cells in a row that I have applied a
black pattern to and I would like to fade this row of black cells so that the
cells on the left are dark and the cells to the right get progressively
lighter. Can anyone offer any advice? Thanks in advance!

AFAIK this is not possible. You could create a shape and put this on
top of these cells
