Hi
I've recently upgraded my machine from Win98 to XP Pro by doing a
clean install. In Win98 I was able to use F12 as a shortcut key for
items in the start menu - after setting up a start menu shortcut in XP
Pro to run when F12 is pressed I find it won't work - the key press is
ignored completely (on several items that all work fine with other
shortcut keys).
Ctl F12, Alt F12, & F11 etc all work fine when used like this - it
seems only to be F12 that won't work.
I've been through all the shortcuts on my desktop & start menu
hierarchy and can't find any others that are set to F12 so it doesn't
look like a weird conflict problem. There is no mention of anything
specific to F12 that I can find in the MS KB or Google or in Google
newsgroups.
I can't find anything in the registry that indicates in plain text
(i.e. F11, F12 etc) which keys have been setup manually with which
shortcuts - does anyone know of a way of listing them ?
The same happens on my wife's laptop running XP Home so I'm beginning
to think it may be something specific to XP - can anyone confirm this
?
Many thanks for any insight into this trivial, but irritating,
problem.
