F-Secure or Kaspersky and F-Prot

Hello group
I have a few simple questions for this group!

F-Secure uses 3 scanners, AVP (Kaspersky), F-Prot and Orion.
1) Does F-Secure use the heuristic AND the signature scanners of F-Prot
and Kaspersky or does it just use the signatures?

2) Which AV Scanner will detect more viruses, F-Secure or Kaspersky AND
F-Prot?

3) F-Secure does not have as many VB100% awards as kaspersky, but that is
because F-Secure have been removing extensions from the default settings
in order to boost performance. If F-Secure was configured to scan all
files, would F-Secure have passed the VB100% awards?

4) Is it likely that there will be confilcts between F-Prot and Kaspersky
if I run them together?

5) Have you got any recomendations for a scanner that has good virus AND
trojan detection? (I have been looking at NOD32, but that has poor Trojan
detection).

F-Secure no longer uses the F-Prot engine.

AVK which uses both the KAV and RAV scan engines is probably the best
in terms of overall malware detection at the present time. Never try
to use two on-access scanners at once. They will likely conflict.

Hello group

apparently this is no longer true... f-secure no longer uses the f-prot
technology...
1) Does F-Secure use the heuristic AND the signature scanners of F-Prot
and Kaspersky or does it just use the signatures?

i suspect it might have been both, but i'm not sure...
2) Which AV Scanner will detect more viruses, F-Secure or Kaspersky AND
F-Prot?

since f-secure used to be f-prot + kav + orion, i suspect it's
reasonable to assume it would be capable of detecting slightly more
than f-prot + kav...
3) F-Secure does not have as many VB100% awards as kaspersky, but that is

not necessarily... perfect detection of the in-the-wild test set is not
sufficient to get a vb100 award, they must also get *no* false positives...
4) Is it likely that there will be confilcts between F-Prot and Kaspersky
if I run them together?

if you run the on-access/realtime portions of the two products
simultaneously then probably there will be problems - if not then there
shouldn't be any problems...

I have F-Secure v 5.41 installed, and it is still downloading updates for
F-Prot (latest update 2004-2-13).
I hope this will only affect the latest version!
