F-Secure for mobile phones

phone to explode' warnings of years gone by.

Well I've just installed a trial of F-Secure for my Nokia.

Anyone have any experience of malware for mobiles? Seems that the only way
they can currently infect a symbian OS is by user interface. Am I correct in
this?

for bluetooth malware i believe you're correct that user input is
required for infection (assuming i interpreted your question
correctly)... of course, on all but the latest version of the symbian os
the phone would effectively be unusable until the user clicked "yes" or
got out of range of the device sending it the bluetooth malware...

i don't know if mms malware is similarly constrained... a quick google
search shows that there have been vulnerabilities in mms and exploits
have been written...

I would imagine that anything which runs Win Mobile could theoretically be
attacked by a virus.
But I run one and haven't seen anything yet.
Actually, its my second. The first one (a K-Jam) came equipped with an AV
program, but the second generation one (Jamin) didn't.
Perhaps the makers know something we don't!

yup, that's showing how the newest version of the symbian os has changed
the way it handles bluetooth connections...

kind of a kick in the ass to all those naysayers who said mobile malware
was all hype when symbian are changing the functionality of their os in
order to help combat it...

Mines an E65, but even with my previous phones (3)
that have had bluetooth I never wander round with it switched on anyway and
only enable it on an as and when basis. Still if you did leave it on and a
cabir infected phone broadcast to yours it would be easy if the phone was in
a pocket/bag for the yes key to get inadvertently pressed.

It was hype years ago, as PaX proved, but he did say that it would happen
with more advanced phones. Where is Dalt/PaX these days he was always well
up on mobile phone technology.
