Have WindowsXP 2003 on workstation connected to Windows NT server. Last few
months experiencing very slow performance accessing Excel, Word files from
server. Plenty of RAM (1.3 G), have run Registry Mecanic, Spybot, to no
avail.
When accessing Excel file on my C drive no problem. Have checked all
cables, etc on server side and everything is fine.
I am running out of hair to pull out. Any ideas??
Thanks

Sounds like your antivirus. try turning it off and see if you have the same
problem. If you do, uncheck, on the client side, scanning network connections.
this has to do with mapped drives and the antivirus I believe.

Took me a bit to figure it out when I had this problem.

What is your network configuration?

Are the network cards 10 mbps or 100 mbps or 1 gbps?

How many computers are on the network and how much other traffic is
there?

Are you using TCP/IP protocol (only) for the network?

Here is a website with some troubleshooting information:

Good luck
