Extremely slow copy/cut in Excel 2007

The copy/cut action in Excel 2007 has recently gotten extremely slow. When I
press Ctrl-C, the spinner displays for 10-30 seconds before giving control
back to Excel. Once Excel becomes active again, pasting works quickly and as
expected. This behavior happens across multiple spreadsheet files (all fairly
simple), and takes place when copying anything from a single cell up to a
60x5 grid of cells.

My wife has noticed this behavior on her machine, too.

Has anybody else run into this problem (have just noticed for a few days -
persists through reboots of the machine - Win7 Pro x64)? Any suggestions are
welcome!

Does it take a similar length of time to save the doc? It's just a thought
but is the s/s very large or have you got unused cells that have colour fill
or borders. I say this because I found a colleague who had a similar
problem. She had taken a shortcut to colour areas but had selected the top
of the columns so had inadvertently filled 30,000 rows whereas she was only
using a hundred. Each time she saves it's looking at millions of cells
rather than the few in use.

I've never seen this behavior.

But I'd try changing the default printer to something else--even installing a
printer driver for a printer that isn't really connected if I had to.
