I need a driver that win 2000 server sees, but 2003 does not. I"ve seen
talk of an extract tool, is there any docs on it, and how do I know which
file (.cab I assume) to choose to extract from. I need scsi drivers for the
adaptec aha1505.
Thanks

Are you joking ?

You have a 2003 server and you want drivers for the AHA-1505 ?
Do you really mean the AVA-1505 ?

In any case that's a bare bone, discontinued, ISA card. I really don't think Win2003 Server
even supports ISA.

Be smart and replace that with an Ulta320 or Ultra160 controller.

In Win 2000 it shows up as AHA even though the model is AVA.

If Win XP Pro supports it, why wouldn't Server 03?

How can I be certain that the faster cards will work with my old scanner,
plus the card is fine (if I can get drivers for it), and my scanner cable
requires an old 25 pin interface, and a new card and a new cable cost money,
which unfortunately will have to be my last option.
If I can figure out which files to extract (or expand as the command is
called) from driver.cab (if that is the right file), then I should be good
to go.

Are you sure that Win 2003 has support for your scanner too?

Even if you get the SCSI card working you may find the scanner too old
to be on the 03 HCL.

Scanners are one of the devices that have seen prices tumbling over the
past few years, I replaced my old one with a nice new USB one some time
back for minimal cost, far less than the time that would have been
wasted trying to get the old one working with a newer OS.

Well it worked fine on Win XP Pro, so I am assuming it will work in 03, and
the application that came with it installed fine, but it won't run until I
"select" a scanner. Plus its a great scanner, high res and large dynamic
range, and I am unemployed, so I am trying my hardest to get it working.
Maybe I'll try the new virtual PC and load win xp pro there and just use it
for my scanner.

WinXP is a workstation OS
Win2003 is a NOS

Therefore your assumption is poor at best. I can see NO REASON why anyone would want a 8Mhz
16bit wide bus on a 32bit Server so I can see no reason why Microsoft would add support for
it. Servers are on the bleeding edge of technology. ISA is "stone knife and bear skin"
technology.

Besides what does an unemployed person need win2003 server on a home PC anyway ? Servers
don't use scanners. Workstations use scanners.

I suggest you give up the idea of using Win2003 Server and use WinXP which you expressed did
work with the ISA device.

Lets be real here -- OK !
