Extra space when there is no middle initial in mail merge?

B

Bill B.

When I do a mail merge, an extra space is put in when there is no middle
initial. How do I eliminate it?

Use an IF field and include the space before the mergefield as part of the
TrueText.

Hi Bill,

In Word-
.. delete the existing space after the initial field.
.. duplicate the initials mailmerge field (eg «Init») so that you get: «Init»«Init»;
.. select both fields and Press Ctrl-F9, you'll get: { «Init»«Init» };
.. fill in between the braces so that you end up with: {IF«Init»= "" "" "«Init» "};
.. position the cursor anywhere in this field and press F9 to update it;
.. run your mailmerge.
