Extra page printed on Canon GP215

Hello all,

We have a Canon GP215 printer/photocopier in the office. It works
fine, except that for every single print job, it starts by printing an
extra page with just this text on it:

%%For: username

Where username is the person's NT account name. While this is all fine
and dandy for identifying who printed what, it's a monumental waste of
paper and our users keep asking us to turn it off!

We looked everywhere we could think of in the Windows drivers and the
printer's own settings, but we can't seem to find any option to turn
this off. Canon were about as much help as a soggy blanket, so I'm
hoping someone here will have some ideas or suggestions!

Look in the Help for "separation page." IIRC on NT the button to turn
it off is in an obscure location. Been too long since I used NT and I
can't remember where it was. But I know it's possible to turn it off.

We've encountered the separator page option in our previous
investigation, and unfortunately, it's set to nothing already. It's a
big mystery!

Thank you very much for your response though!

Ariana,

That is a PostScript command that is in the datastream. You can Print
to file and view postscript in a text editor. You will see the offending
command. The printer's PostScript interpreter probably does not understand
that command. There are some other actions you can take (if you haven't
already) to try and resolve the issue:

** You can try to use the latest PostScript driver provided by Canon
(http://software.canon-europe.com/office_print__copy_solutions/digital_gp_se
ries/gp215_d1e1678.asp)

** You can locate the PPD file for the printer and use Adobe's Windows
Driver
(http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=pdrv&platform=wi
n)

** You can see if there's a firmware upgrade for your printer from Canon
that might include a bug fix for interpreter to include the missing command.

** You can use an alternate Print language like PCL5e

Good luck!

Chris
