Extra Memory.

I`m running a Dell4400 (Pentium 4)with 256Mb of memory.
I want to increase this but am not sure what to buy. I`m
told that P4 memory is different to P2 or ME. Any help
would be appreciated.

You have to ensure your previous RAM is compatible
with the new RAM. And that it's compatible with
your motherboard.

Hi,

Well that is a quite difficuilt question to answer in a
few sentences and that depends on what applications u
plan to run.

If u see the requirements for any software u will see the
memory requirements. So if u have 256 MB RAM that might
be just bare enough for win xp plus all the applications
u run but u will need more time to execute them all at
the same time. Yes P4 is different from P2. Well if u
specify what all programs u plan to run then we can give
a more explained decision on how much RAM u need.

you have and ask to buy 256 more ram for that computer.

The easiest method is to open up your case, shine a light on the ram
chip, copy the name and numbers to a piece of paper and then visit
a computer store. You know that make and model works so get the same
thing. Works every time!

What you need is memory that matches that already there - what the
processor is is not very relevant. Go to www.crucial.com and use their
selector to tell it the exact model of the machine (or of motherboard)_
and it will advise what is right. It is not a point on which it is
worth saving on a cut-proice but corner-cutting product
