External Hard drive!

I am having problems with my lap top and my 400GB external hard drive! I can
see it in device manger but not in my computer!

Please can some help

Use Disk Management ( DiskMgmt.Msc ) and verify the drive's
structure is shown correctly. For removable drives it's best to
assign a mid-alphabet letter to them, such as L-P to keep lettering
assignments from being an issue.
 
Go to Start > Administrative Tools > Computer Management. Select Disk
Management. Is the drive listed in there? It may just need formatted or
partitioned.

Is it a new hard drive, or have you used it before? You might also hit F5
when in the Computer folder. Sometimes, it puts it off the screen where you
can't see it.
