External Hard-drive not working

i have an external (portable hard drive enclosure with its own poer supply)
hard drive, but for some reason my computer has just stopped allowing it to
work on it. it works on any other computer. i have tried uninstalling and
reinstalling the drive (it registers as a USB MASS STORAGE DEVICE)... please
help me as it has 148 Gigabytes of stuff that i need!!!

USB issues will be useful, but it's worth looking at to see:

USB issues are universal, so something there may help.
