External hard drive for video?

Hey, I got my new computer up and running. I opted for the smaller
Raptor drive 'cause I preferred speed over storage capacity. But now I
added a TV tuner card and I want to record movies and stuff onto disc -
use it like a VCR. So I'll add another drive, but I was wondering
about an external drive. Seems it would be pretty cool to move it
between computers if I want to. I have USB 2 and also the 1394 (?)
port. I see the Maxtor OneTouch mentioned quite a bit. The 1394
versions seems to cost $20 more. Is the USB 2 just fine for watching
video in terms of speed? I only have USB 2 on my other computer, so if
that's fast enough I'd prefer to just use that.

my vote 1394...never had a glitch, hiccup, audio/video sync problems, or any
other anomalies that can arise with USB. Not that it can't be done with
USB2, from my experience too often something upsets playback or capture.
