Question 1-
I like to buy a external backup drive just to save al the images and movies
that I edit them.
Now all my files are on the PC hard drive, Cds and DVDs.

Question 2-
Also I need a scanner for scanning pictures old and new (B&W and Color) for
editing with Photoshop and possible print them later on.

I need you advice for:
A drive and scanner that is dependable
What brand drive? and what brand scanner?
How big drive (MB)? and the scanner how big in resolution?
Price for drive? and for the scanner?
I do have external multiply memory card reader, I have seen some drives that
has card readers, I do not think I need that type of drive.
I do have HP scanner but it is about 8 years old and when I scan a Wallet
picture to a 8x10 and 300 resolution I am getting cut lines or steps (very
difficult to explain) in the scanned picture, so I think I need a new
scanner.

As always, thanks for the reply in advance,

Ohan

All depends were you reside regards pricing and availability, have a read
here for epson scanner specs
http://www.epson.com.au/products/scanner/

and here for external drives
http://www.westerndigital.com/en/products/index.asp?Cat=5
anything from both these companies can be considered good, you just
have to decide what is right for your situation - usage, price and
quality.

I would also recommend two sources for practical
information, advice, quotes, price comparisons, feature
comparisons.

www.consumerreports.org

www.pcworld.com

Both web pages test and rate various electronics from
desktop computers to laptops to pdas, to digital cameras, to
mp3 players, blackberries, etc.

You can spend HOURS reading up and finding the best
equipment for your needs and the best places to buy them.

The outlets are even rated as to cost, and
"trustworthiness."

Good luck!

Don't understand how the above is a question.

If you have some minor experiences swapping hard drive internally, I would
suggest buying your own external enclosure (ventilated) and putting in your
choice of HD in that enclosure. Otherwise, stay away from Maxtor one touch
drives.

Only you have some idea how large a capacity HD you need.

The PSCs do a decent job scanning b/w or color print, but dpi range is very
limited. A full (legal size paper capable) bed scanner, whose only purpose
is scanning, is more up to photo scanning. Am partial to Microtek scanners
myself. Which one to get depends on the interface you have available. This
is also true for a hard drive. But, for some reason, you left out that
information.
