Hi,

I am having some problems with this error message every now and then
with a couple of my USB externals.

It happens out of the blue when I am copying files or just idle.

What could cause this please. XP Pro

Which one fixed it?
Thanks

Sorry.. It took this from the forum because that is what I did....

Just right click My Computer and select Properties, select Hardware,

Device manager, select View, select View Hidden Devices, and then for
each Genric-volume entry under Storage Volumes, right click and select
update and let windows try to find a better driver for the Generic volume.

If windows says it doesn't a better driver, that's okay, but it will
probably update at least one of the entries.

Then close down the device manager and reboot. Prob should be gone.

.....and it was.

Thanks the only reason I asked
is that this forum get's archived on Google
and I wanted a solution for others to gain from it.
Thanks
Russ
Yes it's a good idea and I try to do that as well, however in the heat
of the moment trying to fix things, one sometimes forgets until later.

Cool.
