Expression Web Validation

I am about to wish I never got expression web. Why did MS take away simple
validation in a form from it. It was there in 2000 and I think 2003, now it
is gone. I read on Microsofts own support website, that this validation
button should be in expression web, but it is NOT. I also read that you have
to design in an older FP program then copy in to expression web, what kind of
thinking is that? Is there a easier (like in the older versions) on how to
specify validation on a simple form?

This has been raised as a bug/suggestion. HTML form validation was one of
the few 'bot's I used in FP and if I have a large form I still use FP to
create the validation.

I create the page in FP, add the form validation, preview it in the browser,
view source of the page and then copy the source over to an EW page. That
way I can see and edit the JavaScript it creates.

Hopefully this may make it back into EW at some point.

If you don't feel like creating your own validation something like
http://www.websitemaker.in/form-validation-generator.html may help. (Not
tested it myself).

Gary,

EW does support the creation of new webbot code such as validation but does
support the Maintenance of existing bot code.

As for the validation the thinking was that EW does not support the form web
bots but does support ASP.Net 2.0 forms and the validation controls.

I would suggest that you start to convert your forms to ASP.Net.

That is the conclusion I came to, but are still very dissappointed that MS
has discontinued this what I think was a well used item in FP, it just
doesn't make sense to discontinue it in an "upgrade". What's more, I have
tried to convert to using the asp.net, and have so far found it to be very
hard to figure out, and EW seems to keep freezing when I'm working with it.
ASP.net appears to be more powerful, but 10 times more difficult to figure
out let alone my program not responding all the time when I try to use it.

Expression Web is not an upgrade, it is a replacement for FP.

If you were comfortable with FP, then you can continue to use it.
