Exporting to Excel Formatting

I've read all the posts about exporting to Excel and formatting but didn't
see one that would assist me with my exporting dilema. After running some
Reports, I have a column of data that has two numbers followed by a dash
and then four additional numbers. EX. 00-0100. Any number that has 01-
#### through 12-#### when exported is converted to some other odd number.
At first I though it was formatting to read as a date, however some of the
numbers are also turning to negative numbers. Is there anything that I can
do that will allow the numbers to be exported as they are in my Access
Report? I have tried exporting to a RTF first and then to Excel, that does
not work, I have tried changing the format cells in Excel to everything
imaginable and nothing works. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Create a calculated Column in Excel using the spreadsheet function TEXT() to
convert all values in the required Column to Text. When import to Access,
skip the original Column (if you wish) and simply use the calculated /c
onverted Column.
