Exporting PST Files out of Outlook

H

Hoops

I just posted this in another discussion group, but then found this one,
which is the right one for my question.

I have to do a fresh reinstall of Vista. This requires saving a lot of
stuff (files) so I can put them back into the computer once the Vista
reinstall is completed. I know how to do all this stuff, but exporting the
outlook stuff is a pain when doing it the conventional way. Is there any
reason why I can't just go into the Outlook Folder, using windows explorer,
and copy the Outlook Folder pst files to a CD rather than going through the
normal exporting process? And, if that's okay, is there any reason I can't
paste those files, off the CD, back into the Outlook folder once Vista is
reinstalled?

Thanks in advance?

Usually, except in specific circumstances, niether Import or Export is
reccommended.
With Outlook closed copy the pst files to media, from media to eg Documents
folder. Ensure read only flag is off
Start Outlook, File>Open> browse to data file
Set data file as default, remove the other
