Export to Excel

I'm new to using Access, but now have a d/b that I use for sales records.
When i export the results of queries to a spreadsheet for analysis I cannot
sort correctly by, for example, "date"
Why is this?

It probably has to do with the data type of the field the date is stored
into. Any chance it is type Text? In that case the sorting will not be
correct. make sure the field type is Date/Time.
