Export Text Wizard Won't Start - HELP!

J

Jordan

I'm running Access 2003 and trying to export a text file. The only problem
is that the Export Text Wizard doesn't start at all, so I can't customize my
export! I've installed the service pack that allows me to run in sandbox
mode, but this doesn't seem to work again. I have an existing Export
Specification that I need to use and I can't figure out how to get Access to
let me use it!

Please help!

Hi Jordan,

If the import/export wizards don't work at all, re-register ACCWIZ.DLL

If it's one or more file formats that aren't listed, re-register the
following files
msexcl40.dll (Excel)
msxbse40.dll (dBase)
mspdox40.dll (Paradox)
mstext40.dll (Text, CSV, tab-delimited))
In Access 97, the filenames contain 35 instead of 40.

To re-register a DLL file,

1) Locate it (usually all these are in the Windows\System32 or
WINNT\System32 folder.

2) Locate the file regsvr32.exe.

3) Drag the DLL file's icon onto the regsvr32.exe icon.

I had a similar problem - text import wizard and export wizard wouldn't start
in Access 2003. All latest updates were installed and tried re-registering
DLLs. Still didn't work. Finally tried doing install repair on Office, and
it started working again.

I had encountered a similar behavior trying to do an text file export on a
query, but the solution was different: in this case, the query had
parameters, and apparently the text export wizard doesn't work well with
these queries. Changed the query parameters to static values, then the
export wizard came up.

Thanks. I'll give that a try.
