Export of Outlook Express Mail to Outlook

I am trying to export my Outlook Express email folders to a file so I can import them into a new computer. When exporting I receive a message "The export could not be performed. Your default MAPI store could not be opened." Anyone have a fix

Do you have Outlook installed on this computer? You'll need it in order to
do an export. If you have Outlook installed, is it configured with a mail
profile? What version of Outlook?
