HELP!!

Somehow, I inadvertently set my folder options to "find" when I double-click
a folder. Now, everytime I double click on say, "my music" or "my pictures"
the search window appears in the left window pane and I cannot view any of
the contents of that folder unless I search for it. It is extremely annoying
and I do not know how to set it back to the default. I imagine it is some
setting in "folder options" in the control panel. I've seached everywhere
and found instructions on how I can change it to the find setting it is on
now, but not on how to reverse it back

Hi,

Try this first:

Go to Start => Run and type in "cmd" {without the quotes}
In the window that opens, type in the following line and press Enter:

regsvr32 /i shell32.dll
There is a space before and after /i

Reboot

You can run this directly from Run dialog box, no need to go to Command Prompt.

Not needed.

Good Luck, Ayush.

Claymore, Ayush,

Thank you so much! It did the trick. Now that I did more searching, I
found a lot of other threads from people who had the same problem. I did not
realize it was common. Thank you again

Ya, searching ... always helpful.

Good Luck, Ayush.

Thanks for letting us know it worked.

And thanks Ayush for correcting me about not having to go the command
prompt to register a .dll - and for the reboot - I was thinking about
another context menu fix where it would be fixed automatically in
Explorer, but not in My Computer. It was late and I was in a bit of a
fog.

Regards
