I have a win XP box with 2.6 GHz Hyperthread CPU. I have
all of the latest updates on it for windows. I found the
problem in article 317751 but it tells about using a
service pack, and my files are newer. The CPU usage is
around 50% for explorer alone. I am not sure what is
causing it. any ideas?

If you have an AVI file hilighted it can cause this.
Basically the AVI properties handler runs amok and most
people have disabled it - seems to be the standard advice.
I'm talking about the windows explorer, not IE6.

Hmm, I figured out how to disable it. Just unregister shmedia.dll and all is
well.
