explorer shortcuts not working

I have done so much reading on this my brain is spinning. Help!
I have a subfolders on my C drive that I have kept all my most used internet shortcuts. Never had any problems accessing pages with them before. Now the drive does its whirring and that is it. Page can still be accessed if I type address in bar
No other apparent internet problems
I have run anti-virus and spybot several times. Checked explorer is installed. checked folder and internet options. Addresses for the shortcuts are in place and correct. After reading some of the advice on your pages tried to run sfc/scannow. I'm told it cannot be found?
Please tell me I don't have to re-do all these shortcuts. There is a lot more than just a couple of dozen
