Explorer list listed descending

I don't know why but now when I open a folder in Windows
Explorer the file list is listed in descending order. If
I right click the list and order it by name (and it lists
ascending) when I open the folder again it is descending.
Is there a way to correct this? I am competent to modify
the registry if necessary. Thank you.
 
The "Name" tab above your files may be pointing down. Left click on it so it points up.
Close and reopen Explorer to recheck. Hope this helps.
