Explorer images don't load

often when computer, running Win98, is restarted, images
don't load in Internet Explorer or Outlook. If an Outlook
message is forwarded, however, the image always loads.

usually problem is fixed - temporarily - by shutting down
system abnormally through power switch - scandisk runs on
restart and - sometimes - the problem is solved and images
load normally.

what setting is being corrupted to cause this?

Don't know. Why don't you go to Start, click Run, and type msconfig and
click OK.
On the screen that opens, click the Startup tab on the top right. Everything
in that list with a checkmark beside it starts with Windows. You might
recognize a program you deleted awhile ago and it may still be checked or
there could be other things there that you don't feel should start with
Windows and you can remove the checkmarks. But make sure you know for sure
what you're doing or you can post back in this thread, a list of everything
you have starting and someone can tell you what you don't need.

You might also try reinstalling Win98 overtop of itself and it may fix
whatever is wrong.

What version of IE and OE are you using?
