Explorer & IE problems

I can use explorer to look at my documents folder and network places. But if
I select my computer I just get the hour glass and it never expands. When I
open IE, a process opens up (in task manager) but it takes a couple of
minutes for the window to finally appear. I've tried the regsvr32 urlmon.dll
suggestion. I've reinstalled IE (SP2) from disk that came with PC. I have
the latest MS udpates. Any ideas?

The help file included the following but my registry does not have "Max
Cached Icons".
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer]
"Max Cached Icons"="12000"
