Explorer has caused an error in VX2.dll

Anything that uses Explorer(Windows Explorer, Control
Panel, etc.) returns the message "Explorer has caused an
error in VX2.dll....Explorer will now close. If you
continue to experience problems, try restarting your
computer". I hadn't installed or downloaded anything
recently to change anything. I've tried restarting my
computer, reinstalling Explorer, reinstalling Windows Me
(twice), running scan disk (several times), to no avail.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.
